Advances in Crustacean Research

About the Series

The Advances in Crustacean Research series publishes internationally significant contributions to the biology of Crustacea. The thematic focus of individual volumes includes particular aspects from various fields of research, such as molecular biology, comparative morphology, developmental biology, systematics, phylogenetics, natural history, evolution, palaeontology, zoogeography conservation biology, (eco-) physiology, ecology, extreme environments, behavioural biology, and fisheries and aquaculture.

Open Access options are available to editors, authors and contributors to the series. OA makes published academic research freely and permanently available online for anyone, anywhere. OA publications are downloaded 7 times more often, cited 50% more, and mentioned online 10 times more often. Upon publication, OA content is made available in digital format to read and download under a Creative Commons license. Aeglidae Life History and Conservation Status of Unique Freshwater Anomuran Decapods

1st Edition

Sandro Santos, Sergio Luiz de Siqueira Bueno
October 04, 2019

Aeglidae focuses on these unique crustaceans who are endemic to South America. The book is the first to summarize the diverse aspects of the Aeglidae, whose taxonomic features and phylogenetic relationships, evolutionary history and biogeographical background, biological characteristics, and ...

Crustacean Issues 2 Larval Growth

Crustacean Issues 2 Larval Growth

1st Edition

Adrian Wenner
June 01, 1985

This volume is an outcome of the annual meeting of the crustacean society symposia on Crustacean Issues 2. It examines issues in contemporary carcinology. The volume emphasises on larval and postlarval growth in decapods....

Crustacean Issues 3 Factors in Adult Growth

Crustacean Issues 3 Factors in Adult Growth

1st Edition

Adrian M. Wenner
June 01, 1985

This volume is an outcome of the symposia on the Crustacean Issues in the annual meeting of The Crustacean Society. It examines in depth timely topics at issue in contemporary carcinology. The volume covers studies of growth rate and life history in two of the major categories of crustaceans....

The Biology of Squat Lobsters

The Biology of Squat Lobsters

1st Edition

Gary C.B. Poore, Shane T. Ahyong, Joanne Taylor
December 20, 2011

Squat lobsters of the superfamilies Chirostyloidea and Galatheoidea are highly visible crustaceans on seamounts, continental margins, shelf environments, hydrothermal vents and coral reefs. About 1000 species are known. They frequently feature in deep-sea images taken by submersibles and are caught...

Decapod Crustacean Phylogenetics

Decapod Crustacean Phylogenetics

1st Edition

Joel W. Martin, Keith A. Crandall, Darryl L. Felder
June 16, 2009

Decapod crustaceans are of tremendous interest and importance evolutionarily, ecologically, and economically. There is no shortage of publications reflecting the wide variety of ideas and hypotheses concerning decapod phylogeny, but until recently, the world’s leading decapodologists had never ...

Evolutionary Developmental Biology of Crustacea

Evolutionary Developmental Biology of Crustacea

1st Edition

Gerhard Scholtz
June 01, 2003

Crustaceans, due to the great diversity of their body organization, segmentation patterns, tagmatization, limb types, larval forms, cleavage, and gastrulation modes, are highly desirable for the study of questions at the interface of evolution and development. Modern interest in evolutionary ...

Isopod Systematics and Evolution

Isopod Systematics and Evolution

1st Edition

Richard C. Brusca
June 01, 2001

A look at isopod systematics and evolution, topics confronted include the influence of genetic and extrachromasomal factors on their population rate and a comparison of different species in different habitats....

The Biodiversity Crisis and Crustacea - Proceedings of the Fourth International Crustacean Congress

The Biodiversity Crisis and Crustacea - Proceedings of the Fourth International Crustacean Congress

1st Edition

J. Carel von Vaupel Klein
June 01, 2000

The papers in this volume have been grouped according to the main sub-themes of the congress and primarily deal with the biodiversity issues of invasive crustacea, ecology and behaviour and fisheries and aquaculture....

Crayfish in Europe as Alien Species

Crayfish in Europe as Alien Species

1st Edition

Francesca Gherardi, David M. Holdich
June 01, 1999

From the third international workshop on the subject (U. of Florence, 1997), come 18 papers reviewing the issue of alien crayfish decimating the relatively few native species in European freshwater environments. In a historical and taxonomic context, the initial paper explains why such homogenizatio...

New Frontiers in Barnacle Evolution

New Frontiers in Barnacle Evolution

1st Edition

Frederick R. Schram
June 01, 1995

This work provides a guide to current research in barnacle evolution. Topics covered include: chemical signals in barnacles; larval settlement; naupliar evidence for cirripede taxonomy and phylogeny; and South American patterns of barnacle distribution....

Terrestrial Isopod Biology

Terrestrial Isopod Biology

1st Edition

A.M. Alikhan
June 01, 1995

This text contains the papers of a meeting on American isopods, the only crustacean group with representatives in all terrestrial ecosystems ranging from the sea shore to the desert. Due to such adaptibility, this group can be seen as a model for the successful transition on land. The text deals ...
